20 YEARS... OUR NEW HOME.
This weekend marks 20 years in our current building. The previous prefabricated concrete dwelling was demolished in 1999, a building that had been the home of the 'Gospel Hall' for several decades.
The opening of the old building even made it into the local newspaper, and with a build cost of £1600 its a huge reminder of how times have changed since then.

The Elders of the 'Gospel Hall' at the time of the opening ceremony were Mr.J.Watts, Mr.H.Windle, Mr. G.W.Lamb and Mr.L.Waterhouse. The congregation had previously been meeting in a building of wood construction on Wakefield Road.
Moving into temporary accomodation for several months while the building works took place, the church excitedly awaited the completion of the 'new' building.
Designed by Architect Ian Cant (Scothall Christian Fellowship) and built by local builder David North the current structure has now been our home for twenty years.
Twenty years that have seen the church grow in number, receive countless blessings and continue to connect with the local community.
The testimony of those who founded the fellowship in Ossett continues to this day, and our primary aim remains that of sharing the good news of the Gospel. We thank and praise God for all that He has given us, for the building He has provided us with and the people who gather there each week.

COVID-19 [Statement]
Further to the government update on Monday regarding Covid-19, and having considered the advice from other Church organisations, we have reluctantly decided to suspend all services and activities at Dale Street Evangelical Church for the foreseeable future, in order to protect those at risk and for the good of the community.
At this stage we are still working out the plans for the coming weeks, however it is our intention to provide regular sermons and devotional thoughts on Sunday mornings, which people will be able to access through the DSEC website. Details will follow shortly, and we will keep you informed of other ways we can engage.
Please note that DSEC isn't closing - our aims remain unchanged: pointing people to the Lord Jesus and growing together in our faith and love for our God - but we are going to have to do church in different way over the coming weeks.
We want to be those who continue to love, support and pray for one another during this period, particularly recognising the challenges of isolation, loneliness, and anxiety.
Whilst we are limited in doing this face to face, we can find creative alternatives, by phone, text, e-mail or other ways.., so let's be proactive in supporting one another.
Please let us know if you or someone else needs help in any way, and we will try and find ways to do this. In the first instance, send a request to the church e-mail address or contact one of the leaders by phone.
The Leaders are continuing to monitor the situation closely, and please be assured that we will update you on any future plans or changes. Please visit the website regularly to see notifications and updates,
and if you have any concerns, please contact one of the Leaders directly.
We are called in these times not to live in fear but to walk in faith, trusting our wise and loving heavenly Father.
2 Timothy 1 v 7: For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of Power and Love.
Therefore, let's all engage in prayer, remembering to keep “looking up” to our faithful Heavenly Father, as well as “looking around” to see how we can bless and support one another, and our neighbours in these uncertain days.
Let's keep encouraging one another!

UPDATED COVID-19 [Statement]
Hello Church
Its hard to believe that the last time we met in our building was the 15th March, and just a few days following that, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend all services and notify the whole Church community. At that time we were unsure if we were in the minority of Churches taking this difficult step, but within a few days, every Church in the UK had no choice but to react in the same way.
We were also unsure as to how long this would last, and for how long we would be apart as a Church family, so as a result we made some decisions about how we would keep communicating to the Church. We split the church congregation into 4 groups and allocated a Church leader to each group so that we could keep in touch either by text, Whats App, phone calls or Face time, and we know you will have been contacted regularly by either James & Naomi, Dave and Emma, Geoff and Linda or Paul & Jo.
We will continue to keep in touch as we progress through the coming weeks. We also created some direct e mail addresses for each leader should you wish to contact us with any requests for help or advice, and they are still open and available, and listed on the website in our contacts page.
One of our main aims was to relaunch our website in a totally new format and we would use this as the main source to providing regular online services on a Sunday.
Our online services started on Sunday 22nd March and have been updated each week, with a variety of elements including our Bible devotional series, kids stories, worship songs and most recently 'meet the church' an insight into the life of different church members. We have now recently added our online Bible Study every 2 weeks, with a subject video and a commentary by our study team. We hope you find website engaging and encouraging, and we will continue to keep this refreshed and interesting week by week.
But we thought it was important to update you following the most recent announcement by the Government of the small steps that they are taking to bring the country out of lockdown. The Prime Minister has suggested some dates for shops and some of the entertainment industry to start and open its doors, and tagged onto the list was a suggestion that Places of worship would be included, however all of which would be subject to social distancing. Just like you, we are all really missing our times together in fellowship at Church and are eagerly looking forward to opening our building again for services. However, as we are at the moment, our services will continue online and we will communicate as we have been doing over the previous weeks, but with one eye on the possibility of a return to services at Dale Street. We will of course let you know as soon as this is under consideration, but the challenge will be for us to return in a way that is safe for all, and yet allows us to worship freely together. Please pray for guidance and wisdom as this decision approaches.
As for now, we continue to pray that the Lord will protect us, strengthen and encourage us, and continue to unite us as a Church community as we trust in Him
Stay Alert, Stay safe & Stay connected.
God bless you.

UPDATED COVID-19 [Statement]
Hello Church
Another 4 weeks have passed since our last Covid-19 update, and we thought it was the right time to keep you informed of any changes to the plans for Church, in light of the latest Government advice.
It is pleasing to see that the numbers of infections in the UK are reducing consistently, but it is very sad to know that a number of people each day are still losing the battle against the virus, albeit, reducing in number. We will continue to pray that the effects of Covid-19 will diminish, that the economy will start to recover, and importantly that we might see a date in the ‘not too distant’ future, when we can all meet together again.
We are now in the next phase of moving out of lockdown, and we are starting to see some business, shops and services re opening, and the latest Government statement laid out some plans with specific dates for these to take place. Included in this statement was that from the 15th June 2020, Churches will be allowed to open for private prayer. As a result of this advice, we need to inform the Church fellowship, what effect that will have for Dale Street Evangelical Church. However, in short, the answer is that it will not affect the Church at this time, and we will continue to engage by the ‘On line’ services each Sunday.
The opening for ‘Private prayer’ will allow some Churches who practice individuals attending church by themselves to pray, the opportunity to do so, but as you are aware, we at Dale Street meet for corporate prayer and worship together. The advice about meeting in a group remains the same, and this is still not permitted at this time, although we do expect that now we can see a return to some form of normality, this will be not too far away. However, the need to accommodate social distancing will most likely still be in place, but when the time comes, we will present our plans for being able to meet this requirement. So, our updates may become more regular in the next few weeks, but we will alert you by text or WhatsApp, when an update has been provided on the website.
We have now included a specific section of ‘Prayer Focus’ during our Sunday on line services, and we would encourage you to contact us if there is anything you would want to include, so we ca pray together. We also hope that the content on a Sunday still brings you some encouragement and blessing, and we want to thank you for your comments and feedback, which help us to keep the program relevant and engaging.
As for now, we continue to pray that the Lord will protect us, strengthen and encourage us, and continue to unite us as a Church community as we trust in Him.
Stay Alert, Stay safe & Stay connected.
God Bless you.
